We think God has a name for you. He does that, you know. He names those he loves. He does it throughout Scripture.
So have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that he might have a name for you too? Have you ever wondered what name God might use when He thinks about you? Pretty cool idea to consider, huh? We sure think so. So that’s why we’re excited to talk today about going deeper into this particular aspect of our true identities. We want to talk about how the process of learning God’s names for each of us—individually, uniquely—can benefit our marriages.
There’s a name God wants to give you.
We’re going to be bold here: we think that the determined pursuit of our unique, God-given identities is one of the greatest gifts any of us can bring to our marriages.
I mean, to have any hope of being the kinds of husbands and wives our spouses need us to be, we need to be willing to become more ourselves. We need to be willing to become more of the selves God’s made us to be.
We think the health of a marriage depends on it.
So, join us for Episode 10, as we talk about how one way to engage in this determined pursuit of true identity is to consider what might be God’s own names for each of us. Let’s consider this idea of true names.
This week’s challenge:
Spend some time this week being quiet with God. Spend some time reading Scripture. Listen for what He says about who He is, and how He thinks of you. Stay with Him, in the tension, as you wait. Stay with Him, with expectation. Also, consider allowing the community you have around you to listen for you, and with you.
Know this: God has something to tell you. He wants to reveal more and more about who you truly are. Now, be patient. We don’t know God’s timing, and this process might take a while. It might take months, years, weeks, days, or just an hour. But press in, asking and listening . . . Listening close . . . and watching as the story of you, of the story of your renaming . . . unfolds: Ask, Father, what is my name?

And could we ask you for a favor? We love it if you’d head over to iTunes and rate the show. It encourages us and it’s key to getting this message—about the truth of Jesus—into the hands of the people who need it. We’d be so grateful for that.
Thank you all so much for listening . . . and we’ll be back next week.
